Sharks are apex predators and play an important role in the ecological food chain. Mainstream media and popular blockbuster films incorrectly portray these animals as cold-blooded killers because fear sells. Along with unsustainable practices fishing practices, large quantities of sharks are being removed from our oceans. While the effects of this imbalance in population decline could take decades to appear, the problems need to be addressed now.
